NDF® and NDF Plus® Adult FAQ

NDF® and NDF Plus®

Q: What are toxic heavy metals?
Heavy metals is the term used for a group of elements that have particular weight characteristics. They are on the "heavier" end of the periodic table of elements. Some heavy metals - such as copper, iron, manganese, and zinc - are essential to health in trace amounts. Others are non-essential and can be harmful to health in excessive amounts. These include cadmium, thallium, antimony, mercury, lead, and arsenic - these last three being the most common in cases of heavy metal toxicity.

Q: Why would I have heavy metal/chemical toxicity?
Since World War II, we have developed more than 80,000 chemicals for use in cleaners, pesticides, plastics, personal care products, industrial products and other conveniences. Recent medical and scientific research is revealing the negative impact these chemicals have on our health. Heavy metal toxicity results from repeated or continuous exposure to toxic heavy metals, leading to an accumulation of the toxic substance in the body. Chronic exposure may result from contaminated food (i.e pesticides, PCB's), air, water, or dust; amalgam fillings, living near a hazardous waste site; spending time in areas with deteriorating lead paint; and many other potential sources. Evaluating your living and working habits may help pinpoint potential heavy metal sources to eliminate them.

Q: How do I know if I have heavy metals in my body?
Currently the most accurate method of detecting metal levels in the body is a Urine Toxic Element Screening using a provocation agent or Porphyrin testing. Please contact Genova Diagnostics for more information on this lab test.

Q: How do I begin my detoxification with NDF® or NDF Plus®?
We recommend that you start detox protocol by using Liver Life to insure that your Phase 1 and 2 detox pathways are prepared for detoxification. Dosing of NDF/NDF Plus® is based on tolerance. We recommend starting out on 3 drops twice a day. Sensitive individuals should start off with 1 drop of NDF Plus®.

Q: Why is it recommended to wait for my urine pH to be 5.5 - 6.2 before adding in NDF/NDF Plus?
Supporting the liver will contribute to a more efficient and successful detoxification. As you begin NDF/NDF Plus, the heavy metals in the body will be excreted at a faster pace, supporting liver structure and function is fundamental.

Q: Do I have to use Liver Life™ for NDF/NDF Plus to be effective?
The liver needs support during any detox program. You do not have to use Liver Life™ for the NDF Plus® to work, however it will contribute to more efficient and successful detox protocol if included.

Q: What is the recommended starting dose for NDF® or NDF Plus®?
3 drops twice a day. Sensitive individuals should begin their protocol with 1 drop a day. The dose should be high enough so that a positive response is noticed and low enough so there are no aggravations. Increase intake of NDF™ or NDF Plus™ by 2 drops every other day until you reach your top tolerated dose.

Q: What is the maximum dose of NDF Plus®?
2 droppers full twice a day is the maximum dose.

Q: How will I know if my dose of NDF® or NDF Plus® is too high?
Not being able to concentrate and/or mild agitation may be the initial symptoms of an aggravation. If you notice an aggravation, lower your dose by half and increase water intake. See "What do I do if I have an aggravation?"

Q: What can I do if I have a sensitive constitution?
If you are very sensitive, you can put 1 drop of the NDF/NDF Plus in a large amount of water and drink this diluted mixture throughout the day. This will insure that you are hydrated while using the NDF/NDF Plus, which helps to avoid aggravations.

Q: What happens if I notice something other than "better"?
An aggravation can occur when the body tries to eliminate large amounts of toxins at a rate faster than the body can eliminate efficiently. Although an aggravation may indicate that you are eliminating toxins; it also creates unnecessary stress on other systems in the body. Please read the following guidelines if aggravations occur.

Q: What do I do if I have an aggravation?
Cut your intake of NDF/NDF Plus in half, increase water with lemon. Make sure bowels are moving at least two times a day. If aggravations continue, take activated charcoal with water. Stop NDF or NDF Plus if this does not resolve aggravation for 24 hours. Upon restarting, begin at the last dose that was tolerated - stay on that dose for 2 weeks before increasing- then begin to increase dose, as tolerated. If you just started using NDF/NDF Plus, and are at 1 drop, reintroduce using a diluted dose of NDF/NDF Plus.

Q: How long will it take for me to notice results?
Some individuals have reported results after the very first dose. If you do not notice any differences, (i.e less foggy thinking, more energy) you can begin to slowly ramp up your dose within the first three days.

Q: What benefits have others seen when using NDF/NDF Plus?
More focus and mental clarity and energy, decreased in histamine response, improvement of digestion, restful sleep.

Q: How will I know if NDF® is decreasing the metal levels in my body?
One of the easiest ways to determine if you are decreasing the metal levels in your body is if you begin to feel better after beginning NDF® or NDF Plus®. A Urine Toxic Elements test can also be taken to see what/how many toxic metals are being excreted.

Q: How long do I have to stay on NDF®
Detoxification with NDF usually takes between 6 to 12 months depending on your individual toxicity and your ability to tolerate increasing the dose. Since heavy metals in our environment are prevalent, we recommend staying on a maintenance dose of NDF after you have completed detoxification with NDF. The appropriate maintenance dose is individual and determined by diet, living environment, profession, etc.

Q: If I haven't started probiotics, why do you recommend waiting to add them in?
The Polyflor™ in NDF Plus® is a cell wall broken (dead) probiotic to balance the gastrointestinal flora. We recommend waiting 2 - 4 weeks from starting NDF Plus® to re-colonize the gut with live probiotics. However, if you are already on a protocol that includes live probiotics you can continue while including NDF® or NDF Plus®.

Q: What other steps can I take towards successful heavy metal detoxification?
Educate yourself regarding potential sources of environmental toxins, eat organic foods whenever possible, use natural based household cleaners and detergents, drink plenty of filtered water, test your urine pH on a regular basis to insure that you are draining acids, take steps to create a non-toxic living and working environment

Q: Does it matter how soon you eat after taking NDF/NDF Plus?
Any supplement is more effective on an empty stomach, and when allowed to digest and assimilate on its own. However, NDF® can be taken with food. It may be used to some degree to purify the incoming foods, but that is of benefit as well.

Q: Do NDF® and NDF Plus® have other beneficial vitamins and minerals?
NDF® and NDF Plus® contain protein (58-60%), beta-carotene, carbohydrates, all of the B vitamins, vitamins C, D, and E, amino acids (including all 8 essential amino acids), macrominerals (calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphorus) and trace minerals, chlorella growth factor (CGF), chlorellan, dextran sulfate, fatty acids (e.g. linolenic acid, palmitlinoleic acid, palmitic acid), nucleic acids and fiber (Yance 1999, 230; Willard 1992, 84).

Q: What are amino acids? Why are they important in NDF® and NDF Plus®?
Chlorella consists of 60% protein in the form of amino acids. This is superior to other sources of protein from animals and vegetables, which must be broken down to amino acids by digestive enzymes in the stomach and absorbed into the body through the intestinal walls before the body can utilize them for its own particular types of protein.

Q: How many amino acids are in NDF® and NDF Plus®?
Among 22 different amino acids, all but 8 can be produced inside our body by using the other amino acids as material. These 8 amino acids can never be produced in our body, but must be consumed from food. These are called "essential amino acids". If any of these are lacking, the others cannot function. Chlorella, the highest ingredient in NDF® and NDF Plus®, contain 19 out of 22 different amino acids and all 8 of the essential amino acids (leucine, valine, lysine, phenylalanine, threonine, isoleucine, methionine, tryptophan). Chlorella is considered a complete protein.

Q: What is Chlorella Growth Factor? CGF?
Chlorella contains high levels of healing and anti-aging factors for adults. Especially valuable are the nucleic acids, RNA and DNA, and specific to chlorella, the nucleotide-peptide chlorella growth factor or CGF. Peptides, proteins, RNA and DNA, polysaccharide, beta glucans, sulfur and manganese combine to form CGF. This is responsible for chlorella's rapid rate of reproduction; each cell reproduces 4 times every 20 hours or so. In our bodies this compound works to promote healthy cellular growth and repair. Dr. Minchinori Kimura of Japan found levels of 1O% RNA and 3% DNA in chlorella, which would make chlorella the highest-known food substance in nucleic acids. Used regularly, chlorella would support and assist genetic material in human cells, protecting health and slowing down the aging process.

Q: What benefits can be attributed to Chlorella Growth Factor?
Maintains and repairs healthy cells, increases energy levels, stimulates growth of new cells, support of immune function, and stimulates the growth in children and animals who have not yet reached their full, adult size.

Q: Does Chlorella benefit the intestines and colon?
Yes, chlorella causes the friendly lactic bacteria in the gut to multiply at four times the usual rate, improving digestion and the absorption of nutrients into the bloodstream.

Q: Are NDF® and NDF Plus® good for vegetarians?
Yes, they are excellent for vegetarians as they contain B-12 and a wide range of amino acids including all 8 essentials. These nutrients can sometimes be deficient in vegetarian diets.

Q: Why are NDF® and NDF Plus® recommended as the detox agents for bodybuilders?
Athletes tend to push themselves physically to the limit. This creates stress if proper nutrition is not there, making detoxification tougher on the athletic person. The high and wide range of amino acids in NDF® and NDF Plus® ensures optimal healing and recovery to muscle tissue, joints, and other areas of the athlete's body. Along with the overall nutritional value, high levels of nucleic acids and CGF make these the most advantageous choice for all athletes.

Q: Can NDF® and NDF Plus® be used topically?
Yes, they can. Apply directly to creases inside of elbows for a transdermal effect and milder detoxification.

Q: Are there any side effects or interactions with other supplements or drugs when using NDF® and NDF Plus®?
None have been reported; both are very safe. Take NDF® or NDF Plus® 2 hours away from any western medication if you or your practitioner have any concerns. The half life of both NDF® and NDF Plus® is 2 hours. If you notice any mild aggravations see: "What to do if I have an aggravation".

Q: How long is the shelf life?
NDF® & NDF Plus® have a shelf life of 5 years.
