What is Micronization?
Micronization is the process of reducing a particle that is only a few millionths of a meter in diameter, in the case of NDF® and NDF Plus®, the uni-cellular algae known as chlorella.
Why Micronize the Ingredients?
Chlorella is known in the mining industry to bind heavy metals to its cell wall. Many people have taken chlorella without noticing benefits. One significant reason for this is that much of the available chlorella is not “cell wall broken” as purported; it remains as whole diatoms which may pass through the system undigested and therefore not utilized by the body. A second important reason is that much of the currently available chlorella is contaminated with heavy metals. After finding a source of chlorella that was not contaminated, the next challenge was to break the very hard exterior cell wall. Enclosed are before and after micrographs of BioRay's processing of the best currently available "Broken Cell Chlorella" taken at 400x on a Dark Field microscope. We mixed some of the chlorella with water and took a look.

A. Clusters of single-cell algae with their cell walls intact are difficult to digest and may contribute to gastrointestinal disorders.
This picture clearly shows that not only are ALL of the cell walls intact, but the individual diatoms are tightly clustered in groups of about 500 units each. This would be very difficult to digest and may explain why some people experience gastro-intestinal distress when taking normal chlorella but not with NDF® and NDF Plus®. Cell wall decimated chlorella has not been available until now.
B. During the process of micronization, the cell walls begin to be broken down.
We devised a mechanical cold temperature micronization process and ran the chlorella liquid through it. In the figure below, you will see single free chlorella diatoms during the middle stage and the beginning of cell wall destruction. Particles of the cell walls can be seen in the surrounding liquid. This distinctive cell wall structure and its chemical composition are partly responsible for the chlorella's toxin-absorbing capabilities. The cell wall is comprised of approximately 31% hemi cellulose, 27%protein, 15.4% alpha-cellulose, 9.2% lipid, 5.2% ash, and 3.3% glucosamine.
C. One drop of NDF® and NDF Plus® is rendered more effective than whole chlorella, as the chlorella cells are reduced to millions of microscopic particles that are far more readily digested and utilized, allowing for superior detoxification.
This slide is post centrifugation and reveals the micro-reduced particles made from the chlorella during our micronization process. You will notice that there is no particulate matter in micrograph A; only whole diatoms. Seen through the microscope are millions of scintillating particles at 0.1 microns surrounded by a “proteit veil”, or haze of smaller particles.
In addition to binding to heavy metals, Chlorella has other beneficial effects that are augmented by putting it through this process, including: increased elimination of toxins, growth hormone regulation, and a powerful nutritive impact and protection from radiation due to its naturally occurring glutathione.
NDF® and NDF Plus® Processing and Quality Control Measures
1. In the beginning, six different sources of Chlorella were evaluated for heavy metal contamination, and only two were found to be contaminant and mold free. These are the ones that we use.
2. Our micronization process occurs in a closed, sterile environment.
3. The water used is of the utmost purity in the world and is regularly checked for contamination by an independent lab.
4. Post micronization, the material is tinctured in three-column distilled, four-stage filtered grain neutral spirits. The alcohol level is at twenty percent (20%), serving as a preservative and sterilizing agent.
