BIORAY Professional™ Child FAQs

  1. NDF/NDF Plus

    • What does the NDF® stand for?

NDF® stands for Natural Detox Formula. It naturally removes harmful heavy metals and chemicals while bringing the essential elements back into balance. We have two formulas: NDF® is for individuals with a strong constitution while NDF Plus® is specific for sensitive individuals.

    • What benefits have parents reported when using NDF Plus® with their child?

Parents report improvements in speech, functional communication, social interactions, behaviors, independence, abstract thought, focus, performance at school, sensory issues and tolerance for their environment and sensory issues.

    • How will I know if NDF®/NDF Plus® is decreasing the level of toxic metals in my child?

One of the easiest ways to determine if you are decreasing the level of toxic metals is if your child begins to feel better and symptoms improve. You can also have laboratory testing done to measure the levels of toxic metals being excreted. Here’s a Summary of Lab Testing for Heavy Metals currently available. Intake dose of NDF®/NDF Plus® relates to the amount of heavy metals being excreted.

    • Why is NDF Plus® so beneficial for children who are immune compromised?

Some individuals have what we call “low battery focus”. This is when the cell's ability to communicate with each other is so debilitated that it is similar to a low car battery. This is especially true for people with chronic exposure, immune issues, and gut issues. These individuals often have a difficult time detoxifying as the cells become hard to permeate.

What makes NDF Plus® exceptional from any other detoxification product for immune compromised people is that NDF Plus® has been put through an additional fermentation processes, which improves cell to cell communication making it easier for an immune compromised person to detoxify.

    • Why does everyone start out at the same dose of NDF®/NDF Plus®? Doesn't age and weight matter?

Dosing of NDF®/NDF Plus® is based on tolerance. We recommend kids start with 1 drop and ramping up slowly as tolerated. If your child is very sensitive to other treatments, beginning with a diluted dose of NDF Plus® is recommended. The dose should be high enough so your child has a positive response and low enough so there are no aggravations.

    • What is the top recommended dose of NDF®/NDF Plus® for children?

      1 dropper (26 drops), 2x a day.

    • What is the half-life of NDF®/NDF Plus®?

The half-life of NDF Plus® is 2 hours. For individuals who prefer more frequent dosing protocols, NDF®/NDF Plus® can safely be used in lower doses, more frequently throughout the day.

    • What symptoms may indicate the dose of NDF®/NDF Plus® is too high?

An increase in irritability, frustration, self stimulatory behaviors, not being able to focus or concentrate, rashes, or feeling unwell after ramping up the dose indicates the dose is not tolerated. A change in the appearance of stools is not typically considered an aggravation.

    • What can I do to improve my child’s tolerance of NDF®/NDF Plus®?

The foundation to any successful detoxification protocol is making sure the bowels are moving daily, your child is well hydrated, liver function is optimized, and acidic waste is draining and leaving the body efficiently.

    • Why do I wait for my child's urine pH to be 5.5-6.2 before adding in NDF®/NDF Plus®?

NDF®/NDF Plus® increases the excretion of acidic waste including toxic heavy metals and chemicals. Making sure your child is able to drain these toxins efficiently will make detox more efficient and decrease their chance of experiencing an aggravation.

    • How long does NDF Plus® need to be used?

Detoxification with NDF®/NDF Plus® typically takes between 6 to 12 months depending on your child’s level of toxicity, biochemistry and his or her current dose. Kids who are inefficient at detoxifying, or have high current exposure to toxins will benefit from a small maintenance dose. NDF®/NDF Plus® can also be used to offset the negative health effects from chlorine as it’s binds to organochlorides.

    • How long does a bottle of NDF®/NDF Plus® last?

This will depend on the dose.
For children or sensitive individuals starting out, a 1oz bottle lasts 4 - 5 months while a 4oz bottle lasts approximately 8 - 10 months.

      At 6 drops, 2x a day, a 1oz bottle lasts about 2.5 months; a 4oz bottle, 10 months.
      At 15 drops, 2x a day, a 1oz bottle lasts 31 days; a 4oz bottle, 4 months.
      At 1 dropper, 2x a day, a 1oz bottle lasts 18 days; a 4oz bottle, 2.5 months.

  2. Cytoflora

    • What is CytoFlora® ?

CytoFlora® is a probiotic lysate in tincture form that supports healthy gut function and a balanced immune response. A probiotic lysate basically means it’s a dead probiotic. By lysing, cutting, or decimating the cell wall of beneficial bacteria, vital nutrients from the cytoplasm and cell wall have been released into the solution making them readily available upon ingestion.

These immune system modulators that naturally exist inside the cells of healthy bacteria are not readily available in most probiotic formulas. It’s BIORAY®’s proprietary manufacturing process that makes CytoFlora® so potent and unique.

    • What are the ingredients in CytoFlora® ?

Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Bifidobacterium infantis, Bifidobacterium longum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus acidophilus DDS-1, Lactobacillus helveticus, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus reuteri, Lactobacillus salivarius. Other Ingredients: Deionized water and gluten-free grain alcohol (20% by volume). CytoFlora® probiotics are pharmaceutical grade, hypo-allergenic, in a nondairy, rice base.

    • How is CytoFlora® different than live probiotics ?

What is CYTOFLORA and how does it work?

CytoFlora® contains 11 strains of beneficial bacteria that have had their cell wall decimated. This releases nutrients and vital substances from the cell wall and cytoplasm from within the probiotics. The immune system modulators that exist inside the beneficial bacteria (commensal) do something extraordinary, they push bad bugs out of the intestines.

CytoFlora has a positive effect on the gastrointestinal tract walls, decreasing leaky gut as well as decreasing a host of 7 different bad bugs, making CytoFlora® a unique and potent probiotic lysate.

    • Can CytoFlora® be given with antibiotics?

While CytoFlora® is a dead probiotic, we recommend dosing 2 hours away from antibiotics to avoid any possible interactions.

    • What benefits are seen with the use of CytoFlora® ?

The following benefits have been reported: balanced digestion, support of healthy immune system, improved focus, increased speech and nonverbal communication, healthy bowel function, more mature interactions, whiter teeth and balanced moods.

    • How long does my child need to use CytoFlora®?

Using CytoFlora® at top dose for 3 months is recommended. At that time, it’s appropriate to re-evaluate symptoms and/or do follow up lab testing to determine if maintenance dose is appropriate.

    • Does CytoFlora® replace my live probiotics ?

No, it does not. CytoFlora® has many of the same benefits as live probiotics do, however live probiotics are still necessary to implant the beneficial flora in the gastrointestinal tract and colon.

  3. Liver Life

    • What type of progress may I notice with my child when using Liver Life®?

With Liver Life® parents report improvements in sensory issues, self stimulatory behaviors, social interactions, food tolerances, digestion, focus, performance at school, skin issues, bowel movements and tolerance for detox.

    • What is the top recommended dose of Liver Life® for children?

40 pounds or less: 30 drops per day (15 drops, twice a day)
40-75 pounds: 4 droppers per day (2 droppers, twice a day)
75 pounds or more: 6 droppers per day (3 droppers, twice a day)

To avoid aggravations, the top recommended dose should not be given as the starting dose of Liver Life®. To insure your child gets the most out of Liver Life®, start slow and ramp the dose up as tolerated. If your child shows aggravations, decrease the dose, increase water and lemon, make sure their bowels move daily and give activated charcoal, if needed.

    • Can I give Liver Life® in combination with my child's other supplements?

Yes. Restoring healthy liver function enables other supplements to work more efficiently and decreases the chance for unwanted side effects from traditional medicine. Liver Life® is most efficient when given on an empty stomach 15-30 minutes before other supplements or food. If this is an issue, it can be given at the same time.

    • Is my child supposed to feel worse on Liver Life® before he feels better?

Parents should notice only improvements in their children. If at any time your child is feeling unwell, more irritable, perhaps having an increase in self stimulatory behaviors, the dose of Liver Life® is too high. Lowering the dose, making sure their bowels are continuing to move daily, sipping water or juice with fresh squeezed lemons and supplementing with activated charcoal is recommended.

    • Is Liver Life® safe for children?

Liver Life® is safe and beneficial for adults, children and pets.

    • How long does Liver Life® last?

This will depend on the current dose and weight of child.
For children starting out, a 2oz bottle of Liver Life® will last approximately 2 months and a 4oz bottle approximately 4 months.

      At 15 drops, 2x a day, a 2oz bottle lasts about 50 days; a 4oz, 100 days.
      At 1 dropper, 2x a day, a 2oz bottle lasts about 30 days; a 4oz, 60 days.
      At 2 droppers, 2x a day, a 2oz bottle lasts about 15 days; a 4oz 30 days.

    • If pH is in range, can my child still benefit from Liver Life®?

Yes. In addition to restoring pH, Liver Life® supports the kidneys and liver. More eye contact, social skills, ability to focus, better moods, and increase in conversations have been reported from doctors and parents continuing Liver Life® after a healthy pH balance is restored.

  4. General

    • What are toxic heavy metals?

Heavy metals are the term used for a group of elements that are on the "heavier" end of the periodic table of elements. Some heavy metals - such as copper, iron, manganese, and zinc - are essential to health in trace amounts. Others are non-essential and can be harmful to health especially in excessive amounts. These include cadmium, thallium, antimony, mercury, lead, and arsenic - the last three being the most common in cases of heavy metal toxicity.

    • How quickly do parents notice results?

Some parents have reported progress after the very first dose. If you don't see any positives within one week, the dose may need to be increased. If you see any negatives, the dose needs to be decreased.

    • Why are removing toxic heavy metals and chemicals important in immune compromised children?

Toxic heavy metals & chemicals cause a deep systemic disruption in normal internal body chemistry and the cells ability to communicate with each other. These toxins can embed in various parts of the body systems and differs from person to person. Heavy metals are naturally excreted through the urine, feces, and sweat glands. But when the natural routes of elimination are compromised, and/or our exposure is increased, we begin to experience toxic effects. This is common in immune compromised children.
Dr. John Char’s took 1569 of his patients with immune issues through detoxification with NDF® and noted the symptoms that improved. This exciting analysis can be viewed here: Toxic Free Dentistry by Dr. John Char.

    • What if I can't get my child to drink enough after his dose?

If your child doesn't drink much, we recommend putting your child's current dose of NDF®/NDF Plus® in their drink which can be sipped throughout the day. This will insure that they are being hydrated while using NDF®/NDF Plus®.

    • How does liver function impact the immune system and the GI tract in my child?

Research shows 70% of our immune system in is our digestive tract. When the gut is out of balance and leaky gut is present, undigested peptides from the foods we eat, and toxins we are exposed to, end up in the blood stream. This creates extra work for the liver as the liver is the only organ that can purify the blood. And the blood is our life source. When the liver becomes overburdened and unable to filter efficiently, these substances are left in the bloodstream triggering an immune response. This contributes to food and environmental sensitivities as well as an increase in symptoms.

    • Why is restoring pH so important for my child?

An acidic environment in the body robs it of oxygen and enables harmful pathogens to thrive. If kids are too acidic, they cannot assimilate nutrients efficiently from the foods they eat or the supplements they take. The body is then forced to pull essential minerals like calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium from the organs and bones to neutralize the acids. When the body pH is off balance enzyme functions begin to suffer, nutrients become deficient, and the body's ability to deal with environmental stressors begins to decline.

    • How does heavy metal & chemical toxicity contribute to an acidic body PH level?

Heavy metals and chemicals are acidifying in the body; they disrupt neurotransmitters, create nutrient imbalances and impair detox pathways, which makes us less efficient at getting rid of acidic/toxic waste. All toxins turn into acidic waste in the body.

    • Why do you recommend testing the first morning urine pH?

The first morning urine pH tells us if the body is removing acidic waste efficiently.
The liver does most of its work between 1 - 3 am, so the majority of acids will be excreted in the first urination upon waking. Our first morning urine pH should ideally be acidic at 5.5-6.2. When the first morning urine pH is alkaline (over 6.2) this indicates the body is 'holding onto' acidic waste, which is often due to liver and/or kidney congestion.

    • How does the first morning urine pH impact detox with my child?

Once the first morning urine pH is in range, products that increase the excretion of acidic waste (antimicrobials, heavy metal & chemical detoxifiers) will be better tolerated making detox more efficient. This means balance is restored and progress is seen more quickly.

    • How do I test the first urine morning pH when my child isn't potty trained?

To test first morning urine pH, urinate on the pH strip or in a container and dip the strip in until thoroughly saturated. For children who are not yet potty trained, putting a cotton ball in the child’s diaper right before bed and taking it out first thing in the morning is recommended. Squeeze urine from the cotton ball onto the pH strip or push the pH strip into the cotton ball until saturated. Wait 15 seconds and compare results.

    • What other things can be done to help balance pH ?

Fresh squeezed lemon juice is one of the most effective alkaline forming foods. Foods that support the liver and therefore balancing pH are cruciferous veggies, these smell like sulphur, as well as artichoke, aspargus, and watermelon.

    • What does IgA and IgM represent?

Immunobilan testing measures immunoglobulin A which is IGA and immunoglobulin M which is IgM. In healthy individuals pathogenic bacteria are found in low quantities in the gut and antibody titers in the blood are very low. With bacterial overgrowth, large quantities of IgA are produced and some IgA will be found in the bloodstream. High titers of IgM for intestinal bacteria is an indicator of increased intestinal permeability.

    • How long until I see results in my child?

Results are typically noticed within 2 weeks. Some parents report benefits within a few days. Improvements are dose related. The higher the dose, the deeper the healing.

    • How long is the shelf life ?

CytoFlora® has a shelf life of 2 years.

    • What does cfu/g stand for ?

      Colony-Forming Units per Gram

    • Genetic Mutations

ISSUE: My child has multiple mutations and cannot seem to tolerate the recommended intake of Liver Life®. How can I improve his tolerance?

Individuals with MTHFR, COMT, and CBS mutations can be sensitive to decongesting the liver. These mutations increase the need for organ support, and at times, can make individuals more sensitive to the process. If multiple mutations are present, this may increase sensitivity as well. However, these individuals tend to do very well once the liver is properly supported with Liver Life®.  If an individual is not tolerating the process, the following may be useful:

      • TIP 1: Make sure the bowels are moving daily and Loving Energy® (adrenal support) is on board prior to supporting healthy liver function with Liver Life®. Add 1 drop of NDF Plus®, building the dose up by 1 drop every 3 days or as tolerated until reaching 3 or 4 drops, twice a day. Once that is established, introduce Liver Life® at 1 drop per day. Increase the dose by 1 drop, every 3-4 days or as tolerated. This should allow them to tolerate the process with ease.
    • Phenol and Chemical Sensitivities

ISSUE: My child is sensitive to phenols. He gets flushed cheeks, red ears and is a little hyper after taking Liver Life®.

Individuals sensitive to phenols tend to have an imbalance in their liver detoxification pathways as phenols are processed in phase II of the liver. These individuals tend to struggle with high histamine and salicylates, which are processed in phase II as well, and are highly reactive to chemicals which inhibit phase II liver detox pathway. Phenolic compounds from plants and herbs are highly beneficial as research shows phenol content mimics antioxidant activity and supports healthy cellular function. However, if the liver is unable to process phenols, it is not uncommon to feel irritated when decongesting the liver.

      • TIP 1: Support the adrenals and balance the histamine response with Loving Energy® prior to beginning Liver Life® as this reduces the workload for the liver. For some sensitive kids, this may be enough to tolerate increasing the intake of Liver Life® slowly, following sensitive individual’s intake instructions.
      • TIP 2: For individuals who tend to be sensitive to very small doses of Liver Life® even with Loving Energy® on board, adding in enzymes such as Phenol Assist or No-Fenol at the same time that you take your remedies will take pressure off the liver by breaking down phenols. This allows individuals to reach optimal dose of Liver Life®, balance phase I & II liver detox pathways and experience the beneficial antioxidant impact of phenols with no irritations.
      • TIP 3: Once the liver detox pathways are supported, increasing the intake of NDF Plus® to remove toxic waste, a common trigger for liver imbalances, is appropriate. With the liver balanced and the level of toxic chemicals decreased, the liver becomes more efficient at processing phenols and toxins, and enzyme supplementation can typically be discontinued.
    • Mold Toxic or Chemically Sensitive

Issue: I have been exposed to mold and now it feels like I react to everything. I am incredibly sensitive to detox. What can I do to move forward with detoxification?

People with chronic mold exposure and multiple chemical sensitivities tend to be incredibly sensitive to the detoxification process, especially decongesting the liver. Some may even be reactive to supporting healthy adrenal function.

      • TIP 1: Make sure the bowels are moving daily and stay properly hydrated. Proper hydration is half the body’s weight in ounces of water. So if you weigh 150 lbs, 75 ounces of pure distilled or reverse osmosis water every day is appropriate.
      • TIP 2: Add in a binding agent (NDF Plus®) first to support healthy cellular function and remove toxins including mycotoxins (byproducts of mold) that tend to create irritating symptoms.  A low dose of 3 or 4 drops of NDF Plus® works to clean up toxic debris that’s circulating in the system and takes pressure off the liver and adrenals. Hold the dose here without increasing, as a higher dose of NDF Plus® is asking the liver to work harder by providing deeper detoxification.
      • TIP 3: Once NDF Plus® is on board, continue to build up the dose of Loving Energy® first, followed by Liver Life®.  Once reaching optimal dose, it is appropriate to provide additional cellular support and detoxification by continuing to increase the intake of NDF Plus® to optimal dose.
      • TIP 4: NDF® can now be added to further enhance detoxification and shorten the length of time needed to reduce the toxic build up of heavy metals and chemicals in the body.  Utilize sensitive individual’s dosing and increase as tolerated. The higher the dose of both NDF Plus® and NDF®, the deeper the detox. You may need to increase your dose of Loving Energy® by 1-2 droppers, at this time. Loving Energy® replenishes the adrenals, balances the histamine response and buffers irritations during detoxification.
    • Sensory Issues

Issue: My child refuses to take BIORAY® formulas in juice or water. What can I do?

Kids can struggle with supplement intake for a variety of reasons. One of the big ones is sensory issues. If they can taste it, smell it or see it, they won’t touch it. So here are some options:

      • TIP 1: Cook with them! Yes, they can take the heat. The heat will not denature the constituents of the herbs. It may take a slightly higher dose to see the same impact, however, increasing the intake by a few drops can help offset that. Add to soup, bake in muffins, scramble in eggs, cook with rice, etc.

Loving Energy® has a sweeter, licorice taste and goes very well as a warm tea or added to almond/rice/coconut milk. For adults, this formula tastes amazing in coffee. Add 2 droppers and a dash of milk that works best for you and enjoy.

Liver Life® tastes like mushrooms and NDF® and NDF Plus® tastes like greens. For this reason, these formulas enhance the flavors of soups, cooked veggies, stir-fry, or even scrambled eggs.

CytoFlora® has a mild taste as it simply contains probiotics lysates. For this reason it can be added to pretty much anything without detection including beverages, fruits, veggies, soups, yogurt, oatmeal or rice. You can drizzle over fruit and freeze as a treat. Or you can poke a hole in the fruit and drop a few drops inside to give right away. This technique works great with fresh grapes, watermelon cubes, cantaloupe, and pineapple.

Artemisia & Clove® is a strong, bitter tasting formula. However, it hides beautifully and can enhance the taste of many recipes that call for clove. For kids, adding it to nut butters or pumpkin based food including muffins, cookies, soup, or bars works great. If juice is the easiest option for your child, red grape juice is recommended and has been found to compliment the body at a biological level when getting rid of unwanted organisms. For adults, adding Artemisia & Clove® to coffee with a little almond milk tastes great and you will notice a boost in clarity throughout the day.

      • TIP 2: A shot sized glass! Add all BIORAY® remedies to a shot sized glass, top with a touch of juice or water, but not too much. They should be able to drink it all in one sip. Let your child know if they “drink it all”, they can follow it up with their favorite drink or food. This is one of our favorites tips as you aren’t compromising the taste of their beverages and they tend to become less resistant overtime to taking formulas in general. This technique has been used successfully in children at all levels of cognitive function, however, like any type of behavior modification, it can be a process.
      • TIP 3: Blend in smoothies or shakes of all kinds. If fruit or veggies alone do not do the trick, add in almond, rice, or coconut milk with a touch of stevia and blend to further mask the taste. For example: 2 cups of cut up pineapples and bananas, a handful of greens (spinach or kale) and 1 cup of milk (of your child’s tolerance) and 6 drops of whole leaf stevia. Cow milk is not recommended as research shows it slows down the methylation process.
